USB-powered status monitors

Over the past months we have seen a wave of all kinds / sizes / prizes of digital photo frames. While I like the idea in principle, I always disliked that most of them needed a separate power supply. Furthermore, they are fully functional monitors but only show pictures. I would love to see more USB-connected monitors that purely serve the purpose of status monitors. You cannot extend your desktop with them, but in fact you use them for things that are on the real desktop, but often get hidden, unless you have a very big screen. Such monitors would be small - maybe 7 inches. Their only purpose would be to display information - maybe in a slideshow kind of way. This could be my ToDo list, replacements for all the yellow sticky notes, current PC status infos, current weather forecasts, snapshots of my most important web sites so that I can see altered content, etc.

Of course, this would need to be done in such a way that it is possible to avoid distractions. Possibly by providing a power button and some functionality to flip through the info pages if needed.
